About RBL
Resources
for Better Living is a small for-profit company with a
mission to promote health and well-being through motivational
information, education strategies, policy work, and research.
It is located near the Nation's Capitol, where many health-related
organizations interface with legislators. However, not
so near that the benefits of country life are lost: Beautiful
Shenandoah Valley in Virginia offers a balanced perspective
on living.
RBL
was started in 1998; Linda Royer, President and owner,
focused first on health behavior change, particularly
in tobacco cessation. Training and intervention products
are described and purchasable on this website. Recent
developmental plans and grant-seeking efforts have centered
around a pro-active telephone and web-supported counseling
model for tobacco cessation and weight management based
on current science that states adult individuals need
long-term health behavior change assistance to be successful.
RBL believes it has an effective wholistic approach and
is inviting other health professionals and funders to
consider the concept.
Interest
in health promotion and the community's health has led
Linda to focus in three intersecting professional areas:
-
education
and development of health professionals-particularly
nurses;
-
development of collaborative community entities such
as health councils and congregational, or faith, nursing;
-
Her skills in assessment, program development, and presentation
together make an effective workshop or seminar for schools,
corporations, and communities.

Linda is
a Nurse Educator in pursuit of a doctorate at George Mason
University concentrating on nursing workforce capacity,
particularly in community health and collaborative leadership
that empowers partnerships and coalitions at the community
level to improve health and access to care and information
for its members. She invites discussion and collaboration
on these broad issues.
