Who Will Benefit from Using This Program?

Taking Control is prepared for English -speaking adults of at least an eighth grade education. One may complete the whole program by just listening to the CD's or watching the videos if he/she chooses. The booklets, however, are provided to enhance the learning process and should not stand alone.

A small group of 2-5 may gather around one kit to work together for two weeks
if each member acquires an additional set of the booklets.

Individuals who are not able to attend cessation classes regularly will find this
method convenient. Obtaining occasional support from scheduled support
classes would enhance adherence to the program.

Those who have quit more than once may welcome a method that continues
to offer reinforcement in an organized manner like Taking Control.

The travelling smoker will conveniently benefit by this informative and entertaining
program.


How Can an Audio/Video and Booklet Program Bring Effective and Long-term Cessation to Me?

Taking Control seeks to assist you further by providing in auidio or video format and written form guidance in choosing a non-tobacco-using partner for support and helping you both nurture this significant relationship.

Methods used in this program enhance one's feelings of self worth and instill confidence.

Other tobacco users in your circle of friends or co-workers may be ready to quit at this time also. Invite them to get involved with you in this transition to good health. Taking Control has room for one, two, or several participants!

In addition, household members are invited to participate in order to wisely support the quitting process; special advice to youth and young adults and support and encouragement to caregivers are given--a unique component to a self-help program.
